🔥Brief Biography
Selenks, a UK based Sierra Leonean artist is known for his unique blend of English with his native Krio language. Having many musical influences Selenks takes Afrobeats on his own journey, fusing it with Rap, Grime, Dancehall and R&B.

As the son of a DJ, it was clear that he would be involved in music & Djing was his first route into the industry. From the age of 16, he built his name as a DJ, hosting events and performing to big crowds globally. He began to experiment with rap but in a unique way; he was adamant that he would rap in Krio, his mother tongue. Selenks posted freestyles on social media which began to get attention, primarily from Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora.

In February 2016 a Whatsapp group chat was formed where Selenks met three other Sierra Leoneans & created the group Diamond City. Their first release Diamond Titi surprised them when it trended on Twitter and amassed thousands of streams. This was followed by street anthem 'Lajila' which cemented their status as pioneers of the Krio-English rap sound. In December 2016 Selenks released his breakthrough solo single "Audi Bodi", a smart play of words based on the Krio phrase "ow di bodi (hello)" and the car make Audi. The catchy hook and hard-hitting verses brought global attention with recognition received worldwide. Selenks continued in 2017 and displayed his versatility with the boasty rap Livin Lavish (ft. M9) followed by the bouncy afro-bashment 'Caution', with both tracks receiving radio play.

Selenks continued his run in 2018 with the release of “Favours”, a UK street banger alongside friend and fellow Sierra Leonean M9. His first Afro release for the year was entitled “Your Love” and was released with beautiful visuals shot in Aberdeen, Freetown. In June Selenks was invited to the One Africa Music Festival alongside fellow Sierra Leonean DJ’s Mr Play and Peekay. Here he rubbed shoulders backstage with artists such as Wizkid, Wande Coal and Afro B and was also interviewed by broadcasting company Africa X5. This run of success culminated in Selenks being named as the 2018 AWOL UK Artist of the Year, his first award as an artist.

In August of 2018, Selenks became a father and took a break from music to focus on his family. During this, he still managed to release the stunning panoramic visuals for ‘Korpor’, a previous freestyle based off the Starboy smash hit Soco.
